Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013, Five Finger Discount. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, on Sweat It Out on July 21 in 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's remark. Later in the year, her music circulated around Dreamville. The announcement that she would be signed by Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat was her contribution to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In the month of October she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. She also appeared as a guest performer on two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The first single, called Whipped Cream of the album dropped on September 5, 2018 with an accompanying music video. The 9th of November saw her release two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. She then released on November 13 two new singles titled One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. The track was released as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. In February her music video to the track debuted. The track has garnered more than 3 million YouTube views within a week. In support of the track She toured together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
